Walter Lampl Carved Blue Chalcedony 14K Necklace c. 1930
The hand carved central element and the 8 mm. beads are periwinkle-blue chalcedony. Faceted clear glass flat disk spacers separate the chalcedony beads. The central element is prong-set into a gold frame that includes a sturdy slide clasp. It is marked WL 14K. This necklace can be dated to about 1930 by a U.S. Patent granted to Walter Lampl in that year which shows this exact necklace design, but with an additional feature that allowed the central element/clasp to be removed from the string of beads so it could double as a brooch. This is an exquisite early example of Walter Lampl's work, demonstrating his use of carved semiprecious gemstones imported from China.
Measures 16" total length, with a central element measuring 3/4 x 1-1/4".
No chips or other damage to stones. Slide clasp holds well. Excellent antique condition.
