Vintage Studio Pottery Brutalist Bud Vase or Candleholder
This compelling unsigned vase demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship that belies its rough, almost primitive appearance. The artist produced a traditionally shaped vase and applied the richly mottled green glaze to the top of the vase, then used a knife edge to scrape the broad spiral shapes to the bottom. This symmetrically irregular bottom portion was then finished with roughly textured dark brown pigment. The size of the opening at the top makes it an ideal size for a small bouquet of flowers or for use as a candleholder.
Measures 7 inches tall, 2-1/2 inches in diameter at base, and 1-1/2 inches diameter at the top.
