Vintage Signed Midcentury Zaccagnini Italian Pottery Shallow Serving Dish
This gorgeous piece of Italian pottery is in the form of an oblong shallow bowl or deep platter. The color is a shiny, deep, rich turquoise blue laid over impressed “quilting” of the ceramic base. Applied in high relief are two small floral medallions and two large anthemion motifs. The finish on these floral elements is brown matte, with traces of gilding. The rim of the dish is also lightly gilded. The underside is white. It is signed B. 186 ITALY and with a crossed Z symbol consistent with the signature of Urbano Zaccagnini. It appears to date to the 1950s or 1960s.
Measures 13 x 8-3/4 inches and rises 2-1/2 inches tall at the 4 corners. At the center it rises 1-3/4 inches tall.
Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Light wear to gilding, consistent with age.
