Vintage Onyx & Sterling Afghan Aqeeq Stone Earrings
These beautiful pierced-style earrings feature oval cabochons of black onyx set in ornate silver disks. The complex geometric design appears to be hand-stamped repousse’, with a fine braided silver rope laid on to frame the central collet-set stone. The earrings are composed of two thin sheets of silver soldered together, so the backs are smooth. Marked 925. Although the country of origin is not marked, these appear to be Afghan in origin, with aqeeq stones. Although these earrings have great visual weight and strong presence, they are light and easy to wear.
Measure 1-1/8 x 1-1/2 inches. Each earring weighs 5 gm.
Excellent vintage condition. Normal patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed.
