This beautiful Midcentury brooch dates to circa 1960. The designer, Nora Gulbrandsen, reinterpreted the prehistoric Norwegian rock carving in rich blue, black, and yellow champleve enamel. The scene is of a human figure standing at the stern of a fanciful boat, gazing at a full moon. Marked ROCK-CARVING FROM NORWAY 1000-500 B.C. and D-A NORWAY STERLING 925S NORA G. Safety clasp holds well.

Measures 2-1/2 x 1-1/4 inches. Weighs 0.8 ounce (25 grams).
