Vintage Folk Art Carved Pine Native American Man and Woman

$35.00

This charming couple is hand carved from a soft wood, probably pine. The man is wearing a large-collared shirt under his jacket and a bowler-style hat with a turned-up front brim. A particularly charming detail is the back pockets on his pants. The woman is wearing a scarf over her hair and a long traditional skirt. In her right hand she holds a staff or walking stick. The quality of the carving, though simple, is very expressive. The bottom of each is marked with an incised tepee and H.

The woman measures 8-1/2 inches tall. The man measures 9 inches tall.

Both are in very good vintage condition overall. The back corner of the woman’s base has been broken off and skillfully repaired in the past. This cannot be seen from the front of the piecce.
