Huge Antique Hand Painted China Gibson Girl Portrait Brooch
This beautiful brooch was painted by a talented amateur during the china painting craze of 1880 to 1920. Judging by the “Gibson Girl” style, it appears to date to circa 1900. The quality of the painting is excellent and it was signed by the artist, L.L. The border is gilded, framing perfectly the lovely woman with her huge flowered hat and ruffly dress. This brooch is much larger than is commonly seen in china painting jewelry. The painted porcelain plaque is securely held by a gold-tone metal back. C-clasp holds well.
