Early Walter Lampl Carved Cinnabar & Turquoise Brooch

$425.00

This extraordinary brooch features beautifully carved cinnabar and irregularly shaped turquoise nuggets, all held in place by engraved prongs. The antiqued gold-tone setting has gorgeous deep relief detailing. It bears an early version of the Walter Lampl mark and can be dated to the early 1930s. Safety clasp holds well.

Measures 2 x 2-3/4".

Very good vintage condition. On the back there is one scratch and some minor patination. The cinnabar has a small edge chip, just below the prong on the right side. The turquoise nugget on the left is also chipped, which is not readily apparent because of the irregular shape of the stone, but allows that stone to rattle just a little in its setting. The prongs could be easily tightened to prevent this, if desired.
