1970s Native American 3 Strand Coral Fetish & Heishi Necklace
This outstanding vintage necklace has 3 strands of coral bird, fox, and bear fetishes strung with coral and turquoise heishi. The quality of the fetish carving is very fine, with especially charming detail in the wings and tails of the songbirds. The 3 strands are gathered into handmade sterling cones and beads. The hook style clasp is made of brass. The shortest strand features 16 fetishes, the middle strand has 18 fetishes, and the longest strand has 21, for a total of 55.
Necklace length is 24-1/2”, with longest strand dropping 2” lower. Fetishes range in length from 3/4 to 1-1/4”.
Excellent vintage condition, though one bird is missing its tail. Rich patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed.
