1950s Vintage Cuban Mahogany Maracas Bookends

$55.00

Each of these bookends weighs a very substantial 2 pounds. Hand carved from extremely dense mahogany wood, they were made in Cuba after World War II and before 1959. The maracas are wonderfully realistic, though made of solid wood, and reflect the musical traditions of the island.

Each measures 8-1/2 inches tall to the tip of the maraca handle, 4 inches wide, and 4-1/2 inches deep from the front of the maraca to the back of the base.

Both are in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or dents. The finish on the wood shows normal wear consistent with their age.
